The Rugrat Report

These are pictures we took in August. I haven't mentioned much about the kids for a long time. Here's a little about them: Taylor- You can read her post (below). On Thursday night Taylor participated in the school's annual Dessert Concert. The concert is a fundraiser for the music department. I thought that the program was intesting and fun, not only because of the music, but because the audience chose the order of the program and provided some of the entertainment. As we entered the building, we were given programs. The programs listed the performer's names and the number they were peforming (there were 14). Fourteen of the programs that were handed out had a number on them. If a person's program had a number, the MC aked that person to pick the next performance. (So the "order" of the program didn't apply.) Audience members were also required to tell a joke or sing a song when they picked the next performance. I thought this was a great way to add to the program. A few of the musical numbers were really outstanding, particularly Keith and Amy Duell's piano compositions. (Amy sometimes baby-sits for us.)It was a fun night. Caleb--Caleb has been doing a lot of work at home, mainly helping Jared with the bathroom. He shoveled snow after this week's blizzard and earned enough money to buy another ipod. (His last one was stolen.) He has become very good at e-bay bargaining. Caleb keeps me smiling by recognizing puns and making great jokes. It's really a challenge to keep him busy; a bored Caleb is all too often a naughty Caleb. (His siblings just don't appreciate his humor--or his strength!) McKenna--McKenna played volleyball this fall. She was an important part of her team. I was her assistant coach, and though I didn't do much, she liked having me there. Kenna researched Hawaii and wrote a report, which she presented to her class. She also learned how to make a slideshow. McKenna likes Katie Kazoo books. Isaac--Isaac loved playing soccer! We learned that he really has a talent for it. He likes school, though he finds some of it challenging. Isaac lovesevery holiday. He helped plant and harvest pumpkins this year, and he took especially good care of his by keeping it inside and out of Corbin's reach. We finally celebrated Isaac's birthday at school. Since it was very snowy, Jared was able to go with us. Corbin--A couple of weeks ago Corbin had the "word explosion" that I'd been anxiously anticipating. He now tries to say words rather than pointing or grunting. Corbin's favorite "toys" are probably a chair, a stepstool, and the spray nozzle on the sink. He finally enjoys reading and insists that I read him every book on his dresser before he will lay down. He's very attached to his "piwwow"(pillow) and won't lay down until he has arranged his books under his pillows.
