EVERYTHING is Happening This Weekend!
Everything is happening in our lives..right now!
*Today is Jared's birthday.
(Inidentally, Jared is out of town for his Grandpa Cottrell's funeral.)
*Tomorrow is Father's Day. See above. (It's also Ward Conference. What's up with that? Dads are getting gyped. Maybe their kids may are, too. I guess everyone has different ideas about that, and I have certainly never been a stake president --or a dad--so what do I know?) [PS Ward Conference was wonderful. Pres. Packard spoke a little about fathers and asked that the Primary kids sing, which I know Caleb loved. Right. But, it was a very good conference and a fitting Fathers Day.)
*Today was Isaac's t-ball tournament. He played exceptionally well, which a neat surprise, and very fun to watch. I'll do another post about it. Isaac is now done with t-ball. I have now attended 34 games since May 19th. Jared went to 2 games that I didn't attend, and I missed 4 of Taylor's games this week. That makes 40!! With a few to go!
*Yesterday Caleb had a game and then went to the lake with a friends' family. A fun opportunity for Caleb . Afterward, he and McKenna (and 4 other kids) spent the night at Seth and Riley Thompson's house. This morning my friend Paige took all eight kids to Julesburg to participate in a 3-on-3 basketball tourney. The kids came home happy and exhausted--and a little sunburned. What a whirlwind (and unusual) weekend!
*Taylor came home from Girls' Camp today. She was also exhausted. I was glad to have her home again! Having my kids gone for a week is still a little strange. I know it will happen more as they get older--Taylor particiapted in an NJHS retreat last summer, and she and Caleb went to NY--but it's sometimes hard to believe that we're at this point. It's strange that other people can have so much influence on them. (And it's good, and it's part of the processs. But it takes a little getting used to. )
*This week I drove to Sterling 3 times, Julesburg once, and Chappell once. All part of the summer madness.
I also worked 3 1/2 hours, did about 18 loads of laundry (and it's mostly all folded!), put the carpet back in place in the girl's room, cleaned the basement, took a few bags of stuff to cooperating ministry, and cooked a couple of normal dinners and several quick meals. (We had pizza 2 or 3 times. It's quick, and it was on sale. For budget reasons I don't buy a lot of frozen pizza, but June is an exception.) Oh, and I ate 3 whole bags of wintergreen lifesavers! (Reference the trips to Sterling. I had almost given them up. The chomping is a stress-reliever. But I have to be careful. I ate too many!)
*I will probably describe my day in more detail in another post. If I said that it ended with a broken window and a bucket of wheat flour spilled outside and me yelling, then a little later having family prayer and scripture reading and a testimony moment--if I said that all of those things were part of the day, would you believe that I'm tired, happy, and grateful for my life? 'Cause I am.
