My Wild, Wonderful Life
April 17, 2012
Aaaahhhh...where to begin?
We have been home from Florida for two weeks and one day. It feels like a month. In fact, the last week feels like a month. I'm applying to teach in Haxtun. I am fully prepared not to be hired--the application and interview process alone will be great experience for me--but I am working my tail off to put together the best application that I can. It's a process.
Simultaneously, I'm working hard to wrap up things with the sumer activities committee. Today I went to Holyoke and asked the trustees of the Heginbotham trust for funding. Now that that's done, I can focus on my chem test on Friday, balance the checkbook, and finish my lesson for Sunday. Then I have a talk to prepare for next week. I'm looking forward to better weather and more sun to propel me through this!
Yikes....but fun.

More to add...a couple of weeks ago I contacted Laura Knode, our fried and real estate agent, to let her know that we wanted to change our housing situation sometime this year. We were even to the point that we would have been hapy to rent something larger and newer until we could sell this. But, she contacted us about a house that's for sale and is almost everything we have wanted. It's brick, 2600 square feet, 13 years newer than ours, with mch more storage and a much better layout. The only thing missing is a nice kitchen. (The kitchen is long and narrow, and the cupboards, though sturdy and servicable, are ugly, as is the floor.) The bathrooms need to be updated, and all of the carpeting is destryoed because the previous owners had a TON of cats. But, it doesn't smell and other than needing to be cleaned and needing new flooring, it's great. Plus, because of its condition and the fact that it's a "short sale" (owners approaching foreclosure) it's 20-30k less than anything comparable. So, I picked up paperwork to get pre-qualified...we will see. Lots of questions & no answers yet.
The other big news is...my (potential) job! Darcy Garretson called today to schedule an interview for Monday. Yay! I'm so glad to be getting interviewed. I'm sure there are some who question why I would do this--why now and not a couple of years from now?--bu the short answer is, because I have an opporutnity. Yes, it's a year or two sooner than I anticipated or really wanted, but boy do I want this job. In two years I will be in need of a job to help with colleges and missions, and I certainly want to work in Haxtun. So, I am cautiously optimistic but I am looking forward to going though the interview regardless. I really feel like Hevenly Father has led me to this point and opened doors for me regarding my employment and especially my desire to be able to support us should something happen to Jared. He knows my heart, he knows that ultimately being a mom & wife is my most treasured job, and He will control this. But that doesn't mean I won't be nervous for the interview! :-)
I also have a talk to finish preparing for Sunday, a fireside Sunday night...when it rains it pours! I feel very blessed. My life is truly just...good.

Yes, I'm pretty nervous. I've been going over interview questions with Jared and have solicited questions for him, my parents, and melanie. I am going to have a blessing to help calm me.
But I'm excited. An interview means I've made some type of "cut". This has been a thrilling week: house, juob::: Sheesh.
But I need to sleep.
