Random Thoughts

Tonight was my "free" night--the night that Jared takes the kids to Sterling for church activities. On Wednesday my goal(s) usually are to organize some little area of my home; spend some individual (okay, sometimes it's small group) time with my younger kids, maybe by reading together, playing a game, or going to the park for a bit; and then to get everyone to bed a bit early and have some "me" time (ie. blog, journal, scripture, TV, bath). Problem is, things don't go too smoothly...specifically bedtime. It. Takes. Forever.!! Corbin was overtired today (translation: extra wild, getting more wound up by the minute), and he took too long to settle. Of course I was also trying to read to Isaac and get he & Kenna settled. I guess I'm ready for a quicker nightly routine...But wait, somewhere in my motherhood contract I must've signed on the dotted line underneath "I agree to be kind, loving, patient, tolerant, and Christlike under any and all circumstances, even on the 3,500th night of getting children to sleep". Oh, well. Corbin's kisses made up for it. And on some night in the semi-distant future, when Jared and I are sitting in our empty-nest home and staring at one another with a -"what do we do now" look on our faces (yeah, right), we'll wish we were here. And then we'll go visit our grandkids. PS. On the winter post (2 posts ago) I promised pictures. They're coming soon! My computer is slow at uploading them and I sometimes have to try twice.

  1. I remember having those wonderful 'free-nights' on Wednesday. They were great-just like you said. I can remember playing Crazy Eights with Ben. I suppose Anna and maybe the twins were there too. But, it was still so nice to have some time to spend with a young Ben. I remember those nights recharging me for the rest of the week. What a nice memory!
