Havilah's New Job

One of the things I am passionate about is what I studied in college (Athletic Training). This passion extends to all things relating to our physical selves. I absolutely LOVE to learn about nutrition, anatomy, kinesiology, exercise physiology & exercise science, injuries, rehabilitating injuries, and anything else related to any of that. I put this passion on hold for several years and focused exclusively on my kids, home, and church callings. But 4 months ago I decided that I needed to make myself a priority again. I've always loved to be active, but intense excerise had fallen by the wayside. I guess I was waylaid when my kids pancaked me as I tried to do crunches and when the phone rang or the baby woke up as I was exercising. Sure, I've worn out five (working on #6 & 7) strollers in my career as a mom, but the intensity has really been lacking. I was missing my old, motivated, fit, happy, pain-free self. At the end of February I bought a membership to Haxtun's little gym, Outbak Fitness Center. This has given me something to be excited about again! I'm really loving lifting again! Plus, it's fun to try to beat my time or up the intensity on the treadmill. A few days ago I was hired to be the trainer at the Fitness Center. This was a direct answer to prayer! I had just committed to do daycare again for the little girl I watched last year, but I wasn't excited about the hours (into the late evening), and my kids weren't very supportive. This job will enable me to focus on my family when they need me, will pay better, and will enable me to become more self-reliant and to work toward becoming a certified trainer. woo-hoo!

  1. Congratulations! I'm so glad you are doing something for YOU. You are such a great mom and wife and you deserve to take a couple hours for yourself. Hey will you work out for me too? I can't seem to get up off the couch and exercise.

  2. That's because you don't need to, not like I do. :-) Let us know when Maritza has her baby, okay?
