Catching up with Caleb and McKenna
McKenna turned 10 on March 24. Because that was the night of the Pinewood Derby, we celebrated on Tuesday. Kenna got lots of clothes for her birthday, along with some cards and gramma and grampa's traditional "singing telegram" (over the phone). Kenna is in a difficult position--the middle child, surrounded by 2 older and very competitive siblings and 2 younger, very particular (and sometimes wild) brothers. We love Kenna and are amazed at what she brings to our family. She's especially capable with Corbin, who often asks for her, and she has an amzing ability to empathize with others. Kenna also has a talent for baking, cooking, having fun with friends, and doing well in school. Happy Birthday, McKenna!
Celebrating with our family. She had plenty of help.
Caleb did an amazing thing today after church: He fell asleep! This is the first nap Jared and I can remember Caleb taking since he gave them up at age 3. Rain or shine, sick or well, Caleb just does not nap. Ever. I guess it's a sign of the times: the teen years are approaching! Caleb has stayed busy lately, playing lots of basketball and helping baby-sit when I'm at work. (He's really quite dependable when he decides to be, meaning if the reward is great enough.) He was the first person to shower in our newly completed bathroom--another sign of his age. One good thing was when I asked him if he's glad he can go to the next Stake Priesthood meeting with Jared and he said "Yeah, sure, why wouldn't I be?" Caleb is fun and keeps us laughing. Right now he has a very expensive wish list and is looking forward to mowing lawns and playing baseball again. Here he is on the court in February.
