It's Hailing, It's Pouring!

Almost two weeks ago we had a heck of a hail storm. Taylor was at a track meet that I'd planned on going to, but because of tornado watches and yucky skies I came home from Sterling, where I'd been shopping, instead of going to Akron to see Taylor run. All worked out; the track kids had okay weather and I was home to pick my kids up and "save" them from the hail, which was beginning as we pulled up in front of the house. These pictures were taken just a couple minutes later. (The picture of the backyard, where the swingset is, actually shows more apricot blossoms on the ground than hail.)

When I was two years old, my parents moved from Cortland, NY, to Stony Creek, a tiny little town that literally dead ended into the Adirondack Mountains . This was a homecoming of sorts: Done with college and a brief career as a USAF officer, my dad was moving his little family back to the east coast, to the sprawling but tiny hamlet in upstate New York where his family had spent vacations when he was a teenager growing up in New Jersey.  My parents arrived in Stony Creek with few possessions; they were mostly packed into an old,  green Ford van. Actually, my boys would probably nickname any van like it the “pedo van”, meaning it probably looked like a van someone would use if they were kidnapping kids. I don’t really remember when or where we got the van or how long we had it.  I also don’t remember how we came to live in a hot dog stand. Maybe this is the time to say that we didn’t truly live in a hot dog stand, but we did convert one into a little one room home...

Hey everyone, Just thought I would see how this blog stuff works. Scrapbooking isn't happenign anymore, so I guess I'll just print this! Gosh, that would be a lot of paper. I think saving it as a file sounds better. This morning we had some plumbing done. YEah! Sometime soon we'll get started on the (hole-in-the-wall) bathroom. I'm tired of the kids' stuff all over mine. Hope all is good for ya'll.

Random Thoughts

Tonight was my "free" night--the night that Jared takes the kids to Sterling for church activities. On Wednesday my goal(s) usually are to organize some little area of my home; spend some individual (okay, sometimes it's small group) time with my younger kids, maybe by reading together, playing a game, or going to the park for a bit; and then to get everyone to bed a bit early and have some "me" time (ie. blog, journal, scripture, TV, bath). Problem is, things don't go too smoothly...specifically bedtime. It. Takes. Forever.!! Corbin was overtired today (translation: extra wild, getting more wound up by the minute), and he took too long to settle. Of course I was also trying to read to Isaac and get he & Kenna settled. I guess I'm ready for a quicker nightly routine...But wait, somewhere in my motherhood contract I must've signed on the dotted line underneath "I agree to be kind, loving, patient, tolerant, and Christlike under any and all...
